Chinese Xiangyun Sha, or Gambiered Canton Silk, (hereafter referred as GCS) known as “soft gold”, is the sole silk fabric dyed with pure plant dyes in the world's textiles. It is one of the most splendid carriers and forms of costume culture in Lingnan, the south of the Five Ridges, as well as the precious intangible cultural heritage of China. “Lunjiao Gambiered Canton Silk” is a certification mark of national geographical indication with state recognition and registration. It has become a cultural business card of Guangdong Province, and it is a enchanting flower of intangible cultural heritage in culture of Ling-nan.
As the origin of GCS—Lunjiao, ShunDe is in duty bound to high hold the banner of the GCS culture, and constantly inject new vitality into the development of GCS. In view of this, the 1st Shunde (International) GCS Fashion Design Contest will be held to further promote the cultural spirit of superlative craftsmanship of GCS dyeing and finishing, design and production. Incorporating the design concept of “Intangible heritage+fashion” and “Intangible heritage+culture”, we’ll vigorously promote the original design works to become the driving force for the GCS consumer market, and realize the transformation of the GCS industry into a fashion-, market- and high-end oriented industry.

【Prizes setting】
First Prize(1):RMB 30,000;
Second Prize(2):RMB 15,000 for each;
Third Prize(5):RMB 7,000 for each;
Finalist Award(12):RMB 2,000 for each.
【Composition of judges】
Distinguished domestic and foreign fashion design masters, fashion design experts and scholars, authoritative clothing critic, clothing and fashion authority, well-known clothing brand design director, well-known design academies, garment companies etc.
【Participants】
1. Well-known clothing design agencies/designers/studios at home and abroad;
2. Professional clothing designers at home and abroad;
3. Design teachers and students of prestigious colleges and universities at home and abroad.
【Work requirements】
1. In line with the theme of the Contest, the material of the work must be based on GCS;
2. Fully consider the pragmatic combination of GCS and clothing, grasp the cultural elements of GCS, and achieve a good integrity of the artistic and commercial nature of the work. Must have the necessary conditions to quantify production and achieve commercial value;
3. The design works must be original and debut publication, and have the necessary conditions for intellectual property protection;
4. All elements used in the work are free of counterfeiting and infringement of the intellectual property rights of others. If you must use others' portraits or photo elements, you must indicate the source and obtain written approval to inform the organizer. The organizing committee of the Contest is only responsible for observation and study of the quality of works themselves. The copyright issues involved in the content of the works are the responsibility of the contestants. Any work suspected of plagiarism or involving intellectual property issues will automatically lose the qualification.
【Submission requirements for primary selection】
1. Each contestant can submit up to 6 SKUs, no restrictions on men and women wears.
2. Requirements on submitted effect pictures: upload A3 size (297mm×420mm) online, in the format of JPG. Please do not add any content related to personal information (name, company, etc.) on the front of contributions and those not in line the size specifications would be deemed as invalid submissions. At the bottom of the effect pictures, the artwork (style chart) and the design inspiration and the design concept should be explained.
3. This contest only accepts online registration. Participants can register through the “Needle Threading” platform (xys.eeff.net). All entries and related materials will not be returned. Please keep the manuscript.
【Requirements for shortlist】
1. The preliminary assessment will select 20 works as the shortlisted. The contestants of the shortlisted must print the “Letter of Contest Commitment” with hand-signed signature, and post it to the designated contact address.
2. The Organizing Committee will provide a material subsidy of RMB 1,000 (pre-tax) for each of the 20 shortlist entries, and the shortlisted must complete the physical production during the physical transformation.
1). Once registered, the contestants will be deemed to have voluntarily recognized and complied with all the rules of this Contest;
2). The personal information and ID certificates submitted by the contestants must be authentic and effective. provided false personal information or ID certificate is supplied, the individual qualifications or the awards will be revoked. At the same time, the organizing committee will truthfully report the situation to the relevant departments;
3). Participants are required to match up the schedule of the event series activities;
4). The 20 of shortlist will be invited to participate in the GCS discovery tour and the Contest awarding party. The expenses, including transportation and accommodation expenses, will be borne by the organizing committee;
5). The intellectual property rights of all award-winning works are owned by the organizer, and the Contest organizing committee has the right to apply for intellectual property protection from the Intellectual Property Office. The contestants cannot transfer, publish or participate in exhibitions or contests with these works, etc., otherwise the Contest organizing committee will pursue his/her legal liability;
6). The Contest organizing committee has the rights to use each contestant's entries and has the right to copy, record, publish, distribute, display, publicize, promote, interpret and produce finished products etc. No other company or individual may publicize, publish or display the design of the winning works, and may not transfer it to a third party. Otherwise, the organizing committee will pursue its legal liability;
7). The entries are required to be original, and Participants shall bear their own responsibilities in case of intellectual property rights or copyright disputes arising from copy and plagiarism of other people’s works, and theft of trade secrets, etc. Whereas the organizing committee of this Contest has the right to cancel its qualifications and retrieve relevant awards.
8). All interpretation rights of this event are reserved by the organizer.
